Disabled Mothers
For women with an intellectual disability, there are only a few opportunities to enjoy maternity. After birth, their children often are given up for adoption or they growing up with foster parents. A pilot project enables Monika, Antonia, Sarah and Cindy to live together with her mothers – mums with reduced mental capabilities. It`s a stroke of luck for the girls, but at the same time a more than difficult task for their mothers. Because disabled mothers often do not know any nuances between physical closeness and distance, exaggerated care and negligence. For them, parenthood means a long road with an open end.
