Europa, Deutschland, Berlin, 19.07.2016, QF – Yusra (Ysra) Mardini ist eine syrische Schwimmerin, die beim Berliner Verein Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 e. V trainiert. Yusra flüchtete 2015 mit ihrer Schwester aus Damaskus, Syrien. Auf der Flucht in einem überfüllten Schlauchboot retteten die beiden Fluechtlingsmädchen das Leben aller Bootsinsassen, indem sie über Stunden das Boot ans Ufer der griechischen Insel Lesbos zogen. 2016 wurde Yusra Mardini für das Refugee Olympic Athletes Team nominiert und nahm an den Olympischen Sommerspielen in Rio de Janeiro teil. Europe, Germany, Berlin, July 19, 2016: Yusra (Ysra) Mardini is a Syrian swimmer who trained at Berlin swim club Wasserfreunde Spandau e. V. In 2015 Yusra and her sister fled from Damascus, Syria. On the run in a crowded boat the two refugee girls saved the lives of all occupants by pulling the boat to the shore of Greek island of Lesbos. In 2016 Yusra Mardini was nominated for the Refugee Olympic Athletes Team and participated in the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
