Svetlana
Heaps of snow, freezing cold and remoteness. Somewhere there in the middle of nowhere lies Svetlana – a little village where human warmth breaks the ice of the Russian winter. About 40 co-workers and villagers live in this camphill community. Half the inhabitants, the villagers, are mentally disabled. Svetlana has a different pace to the rest of the world, which makes it possible for Minka, Sulja, Lenochka and many others to keep up with the co-workers. Together they grow organic crops and look after cows, pigs and poultry. It is hard, honest work. The 17-year-old coworker Anja from Russia smiles and says: But it is not like work at all it is more like life.
